Unmanned Aircraft Systems Certification
This is a two-day virtual course to assist individuals in gaining their FAR Part 107 UAS Certification. The curriculum will cover everything that you need to know to pass the aeronautical knowledge test.
Subjects to be covered include FAA UAS regulations, weather, National Airspace System, airport operations, aeronautical decision making, radio communications as well as practice tests.
Course instructors are assistant professor Steve Goetz, associate professors Mike Robertson and Bryan Harrison, and flight instructor Ken Bro from the Aviation Management and Flight Department. From the Aviation Technologies Department; Harry Fanning, lecturer, and Dr. Charles Rodriguez, visiting lecturer.
Certification Course and Testing
Registration fee covers the certification course and prep for the FAAA test. A Microsoft Teams invite and instructions on attending the course virtually will be sent prior to the course. Testing is separate from the course and must be scheduled on participant’s own time.
- Participants may test at the FAA Testing Center at SIU’s Transportation Education Center. Testing is $150 and payment can be made and arranged to the FAA Testing Center directly.
- Participants may also arrange testing on their own. To find testing centers, follow this link: https://faa.psiexams.com/faa/login. Then, click on “Find a Test Center” on the top toolbar. There is the ability to search for testing centers near you. Pricing varies per site for the test and must be paid to the testing center directly.
