CANNABIS SCIENCE: ADVANCING ACADEMIC AND INDUSTRY COLLABORATION
The focus of the 5th SIU Hemp/Cannabis Symposium is “Advancing Academic and Industry Collaboration” across all areas of hemp / cannabis production and utilization.  Historically, industry / academia collaborations have driven rapid advances in many fields such as plant agronomy, drug development, manufacturing, etc.  While there remain significant legal barriers to external funding of academic research on high THC containing cannabis, the opportunities for collaborative industry / university engagement to advance research are abundant. The panel of presenters will discuss their research in areas as diverse as cannabis genetics, biochemistry and terpenes, post-harvest technology, cannabis regulations and rescheduling, among others.  In addition, a poster session will augment the oral presentations and highlight the variety of research of faculty and students. These presentations will be complemented by numerous exhibitors who will display examples of their products and services.
