Please join us for the Fall 2021 session of the Saturday Young Artist Workshop for grades K-9. This fall the students will be exploring how heat alters art.  To best serve your artists, this session we will be capping each grade level group (K-2, 3-5, & 6-9) at 15 students, so register early to ensure a spot for the fall!

Our Fall theme is "Hot Stuff"

  • Grades K-2 will be creating with mediums that change when heat is applied.
  • Grades 3-5 will be examining a variety of approaches to ceramics and kiln firing.
  • Grades 6-9 will be exploring glass as an artistic medium.

Time:  9–11 am

Dates:  September 25; October 2, 9, 23 and 30 (no class October 16 - SIU Homecoming)

Location:  Students will meet in the Allyn Building, Room 102.

Art Exhibit is Saturday, November 6 in the Vergette Gallery in the Allyn Building.

Who Can Attend?  Children in grades K - 9 can attend.

The benefits of this program are two-fold: (1) pre-service art teachers gain knowledge and experience in teaching art to children prior to student teaching, and (2) children from the community obtain art instruction with a student-teacher ratio that encourages personal hands on art instruction.

Cost is $50 for one child, $40 for second child and $30 for additional children

Scholarships are available with a phone call or email from your art teacher to:
