Summer Music Camp (Band, Color Guard, Drum Major, Percussion)

High School Band Registration

High school band students will be seated on the basis of their camp auditions and prior experience. Renowned teachers from Illinois and neighboring states will conduct ensembles and teach master classes. All students will be featured in a performance on the final day of camp

 Open to all students who play standard concert band instruments or percussion who are entering 9th grade in Fall 2024 through students who graduate in May 2025. 

Highlights Include: ensemble rehearsals | master classes | music theory and musicianship classes

Private Lessons: Private lessons are available to all concert band instrumentalists. SIU faculty, upper-division SIU music students and professional musicians teach the lessons. Instrumentalists may take a maximum of two half-hour private lessons for a fee of $20 per lesson. Indicate the type and number of private lessons you desire. Private lessons are not offered to Marching Percussion, Color Guard or Drum Major Camp participants.

Junior High Band Registration

Jr. High school band students will be seated on the basis of their camp auditions and prior experience. Renowned teachers from Illinois and neighboring states will conduct ensembles and teach master classes. All students will be featured in a performance on the final day of camp.

Open to students who play standard concert band instruments or percussion who are entering 7th grade in Fall 2024 through students who are entering 9th grade.

Color Guard Registration

Open to students who are color guard (individuals or entire squads) and are entering 9th grade in Fall 2024 through students who graduate in May 2025.

This camp is designed for both the individual member and the entire color guard section of an ensemble. All students will be featured in a performance on the final day of camp.

Highlights Include: basic and advanced spin technique | rifle / airblade technique | body image / posture / poise | marching fundamentals | choreography / count sheet / musical transference

Drum Major Registration

The Drum Major Camp is designed for students who will be the drum major at their high school in the fall and for those who aspire to be a drum major.

Open to students who are drum majors, drum line (individuals or entire sections), or color guard (individuals or entire squads) and are entering 9th grade in Fall 2024 through students who graduate in May 2025. 

Highlights Include: contemporary field conducting techniques | score study | dynamic leadership | teaching fundamentals | the role of the drum major 

Marching Percussion Registion

Open to students who are drum majors, drum line (individuals or entire sections), or color guard (individuals or entire squads) and are entering 9th grade in Fall 2024 through students who graduate in May 2025. 

This camp is beneficial to the individual drummer as well as entire school drumlines. Students are encouraged to bring the instrument they will be using in the fall, to give them a valuable head start.

Highlights Include: fundamental playing techniques | reading skills | total musicianship | cadence

Photo Registration Fee: $10.00
