SLAMM!

The Department of Political Science at Southern Illinois University is hosting the 12th annual St. Louis Area Methods Meeting (SLAMM!). SLAMM! is a regional meeting highlighting data science and statistical applications in political science. It is sponsored by the Society for Political Methodology and American University's School of Public Affair's Center for Data Science.

All events for SLAMM! will be held at SIU’s Touch of Nature on Friday April 12. In addition to the papers from the faculty presenters, there will be a poster session for graduate students.

SLAMM! is free for members of the Society for Political Methodology and is $35 for non-members. Registration includes meals on the day of the conference. There is a block of double-occupancy rooms available at Touch of Nature for $35 per night (see information below).

SLAMM! is located is located a few hours drive from St. Louis, Nashville, and Memphis. Attendees coming from Urbana, Chicago, and other locations north of Carbondale should consider Amtrak, which has reasonable and reliable service to Carbondale. The conference will provide transportation between the train station and the conference. Attendees flying to the meeting should arrive in St. Louis or Veterans Airport in Marion, Illinois. The conference may be able to provide transportation to/from St. Louis.

Availability/Pricing

Room availability is April 11-13 (2 nights) and is reserved by bed space. To guarantee who attendees are staying with, please call together or have a person call and provide the name of both occupants. Those that do not provide a roommate will be assigned one. The beds are twin beds and all rooms have private bathrooms, air conditioning/heat, flat screen TV with satellite, and a four cup coffee maker. The cost is $35 per bed per night.
